PRESS RELEASE

Berlin, Germany – 18th May 2025

OpenDeSci is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with professional Formula 2 driver Max Esterson, who joins our mission as an official sponsor partner, brand ambassador, and token-aligned stakeholder.

This collaboration is more than symbolic. It marks a convergence of two high-performance arenas—open science and elite motorsport—both grounded in data, cognition, and next-generation infrastructure.

Why Max Esterson?

Max Esterson is a rising talent in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, the proving ground for future Formula 1 drivers. Competing with Milan-based Trident Racing in his first year in Formula 2, Esterson has carved a name as one of the grid’s most analytically driven athletes—combining technical precision, cognitive discipline, and strategic adaptability.

From a virtual background grounded in iRacing sim racing, for the 2025 season, Esterson has stepped up and is coming to grips with the highest level of competition in world racing in 28 races across circuits like Monaco, Monza, Spa Francochamps, Bahrain, Silverstone Imola, and Melbourne. His ability to read race dynamics and extract maximum performance under pressure makes him an ideal representative of the OpenDeSci mindset: grounded in science, driven by outcomes.

“Max represents a rare combination of mental precision, technical fluency, and competitive clarity. He’s exactly the kind of high-performance thinker we want aligned with OpenDeSci. This partnership is about much more than branding—it’s about exploring what happens when open science meets elite decision-making.”

— David Wang, Founder OpenDeSci

Strategic Fit: Where Motorsport Meets OpenScience

The values that underpin Esterson’s career—mental sharpness, data fluency, and iterative improvement—mirror the very pillars OpenDeSci is building for global science. At OpenDeSci, we’re creating decentralized infrastructure for trustworthy, open-access research. The path to success in both domains requires relentless optimization, ecosystem awareness, and technical clarity.

Through this partnership, Esterson will:

  • Act as an official brand ambassador across the 2025 F2 calendar;

  • Feature OpenDeSci branding on race gear, race car and select digital assets;

“Performance in racing is increasingly scientific—reaction time, data analysis, cognitive load, even sleep cycles. Partnering with OpenDeSci lets me explore that world more deeply while supporting a mission I believe in: making science more open, accessible, and impactful.” — Max Esterson, FIA Formula 2 Driver

This is not just about brand visibility. It’s about thought leadership and storytelling at the intersection of elite sport and decentralized science.

Robin Esterson Joins as Senior Advisor

As part of this collaboration, Robin Esterson—longtime mentor, manager, and father to Max—joins Open DeSci as a Senior Advisor. Robin brings decades of leadership experience from the business world. For over 30 years as an active private investor, Robin has served as an officer and as a director on a variety of corporate boards of directors in both privately held and public companies.. His background in capital formation, governance, and strategic scaling will directly support Open DeSci’s next growth phase.

This partnership is not just with a driver—it’s with a team. The Estersons bring a multi-generational commitment to performance, discipline, and long-term vision, which aligns seamlessly with our own mission to build sustainable infrastructure for decentralized science.

Investor Alignment: Shared Skin in the Game

Our collaboration also includes a token-aligned investor agreement, deepening mutual commitment and aligning incentives. Max Esterson is not just a sponsored talent—he is a participant in OpenDeSci’s token economy, with access to pre-seed token rights and narrative co-creation around science-informed performance.

This model reflects our broader thesis: tomorrow’s infrastructure leaders—whether in sport, science, or software—will be stakeholders, not just spokespersons.

Looking Ahead

As OpenDeSci continues to scale its ecosystem—from research institutions to blockchain-native governance—we’re proud to partner with individuals who embody excellence, discipline, and long-term thinking.

Max Esterson is racing toward the future of motorsport. We’re building the infrastructure for the future of science. And together, we’re creating a new narrative about what performance means in the 21st century.
